Madska started as Maddy Rose Weisman’s solo venture during the pandemic, as a way to process loss of relationships, longing for community, and the transition into adulthood. Upon moving to Philadelphia, she collected conspirators including guitarist Sean Bonney-Burrill, and keyboardist Gabe Banford. Madska’s lyricism touches on themes such as yearning, nostalgia, and soul searching with a hopeful twist. Somewhere between indie, pop, and alternative, Madska’s sound is introspective but driving, healing but fiery. Madska, adopted from Maddy’s childhood nickname, encapsulates everything the band epitomizes: rose-colored lenses for the passage of time, and a reminder of what connects us to each other.
